Hysterosonogram/Sonohysterogram or HyCoSy (Hysterosalpingo-Contrast-Sonography)
A small amount of a sterile saline into the uterine cavity to better visualize the uterine lining under ultrasound vision, usually done on specific days of your menstrual cycle.

What to expect
A thin and soft catheter is inserted into the uterus through your vagina and cervix and a saline fluid is injected through the tube under ultrasound vision.
The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and may cause brief mild to moderate cramping as the fluid is inserted – you can take pain relieve before the procedure.
You may experience light spotting, watery discharge, and mild cramping for a few hours, which can be managed with rest or a pain medication like Ibuprofen, and you can usually return to normal activities right after.

Results and recommendations for further testing or referral are provided after the procedure.

Mirena insertion (ultrasound-guided)

Mirena (intrauterine device) insertion performed with ultrasound guidance for accurate placement and greater comfort.
We explain the process, risks and aftercare during your visit.

What to expect
The provider will review consent and medical history.
Ultrasound guidance will be used during insertion to ensure correct placement.

Procedure time
Typically 10-20 minutes.
You may have cramping during and after insertion; over-the-counter pain relief and a rest period are usually sufficient.

Possible side effects
Light bleeding, spotting for weeks, or temporary pain.

Follow-up
A check (often 4-6 weeks) may be recommended to confirm position.
