Dr. Willem Gheysen is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist based in Sydney, where he works as a Staff Specialist at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. Originally from Belgium, Willem was drawn to Australia and has built a career dedicated to supporting women through the most complex pregnancies, from diagnosis, through birth, and into the early newborn period. At the heart of his practice is a deep commitment to high-quality, tertiary-level ultrasound, which he believes is the foundation of accurate diagnosis and better outcomes for mothers and their babies.
A passionate researcher and clinician, Willem has led research in prenatal genomics and presented this work at the ISUOG World Congress, one of the most prestigious international conferences in obstetric ultrasound and fetal medicine. Co-founding this practice is the natural extension of that dedication, bringing tertiary-level expertise and genuine warmth together so that every family can experience pregnancy with confidence and care.
Outside of work, Willem loves running, photography, and spending time with his family.
